Homemade Cleaner With Vinegar And Dawn

Jump to the part you need

Lynn mixes the blue "miracle cleaner" that goes around online, white vinegar and Dawn, for showers, tubs, glass doors, and around the toilet. She cuts the usual ratio because in her experience the standard half-and-half version makes far too many suds.

What Lynn shows you

  • She says the recipe as it is usually passed around calls for half vinegar and half Dawn, and that in her opinion "that's too much Dawn, you'll have bubbles for days."
  • Her version is about 1/3 cup Dawn to 3/4 cup white vinegar, stirred together and poured into a spray bottle.
  • Use white vinegar, not apple cider. She has never tried cider and only suggests it if it is all you have.
  • If the vinegar smell bothers you, she adds a few drops of essential oil, or a couple of drops of lemon juice for a citrus smell if you have no oils.
  • She keeps the bottle in the bathroom to spray the tub down after the kids, then scrub and rinse right off.
